This was written with PSPX3, but can be used with other versions with slight modifications.

Go to your PSP folders and in "All Lessons", "Framing Bee's " make a new folder name: Frame 5

Supplies: You will need 2 graphics or photos in portrait layout (taller than wide); duplicate; close originals; minimize

Step 1

Select 2 colors from your graphics/photos for the Foreground and Background material; these may be coordinated or contrasting colors; make the lightest color the Foreground material

Make sure that you have the Status Toolbar active; right-click anywhere in the workspace, scroll to Toolbars and make sure that Status is checked


Step 2

New Image 750x460 Transparent

Activate Selection Tool>Custom Selection



With Selection Tool still active, using these settings

Draw a selection starting at coordinates x:390 y:0 and ending at x:750 y:460 (the coordinates are found on the right side of Status Bar below the workspace)

     

You should now have this

Selections>Modify>Select Selection Borders

Flood Fill both sides of frame with Foreground color

New Raster Layer

Effects>3D Effects>Cutout

Select None


Step 3

Image>Canvas Size to 810/520, Placement: Center-Middle

Make Raster 1 layer active

Activate Magic Wand

Click in the center of each frame

Selections>Modify>Expand by 30

Make Raster 2 layer active

New Raster Layer

Selections>Modify>Select Selection Borders

You should now have this

Flood Fill selection with Background color

New Raster Layer

Effects>3D Effects>Cutout, same settings

Select None


Step 4

Activate Magic Wand Tool (make sure feathering is set to 0)

Make Raster 1 layer active

Click in the center of both frames

New Raster Layer

Effects>3D Effects>Cutout, same settings

Select None


Step 5

Save in PSP format for use in the future


Step 6

Activate Magic Wand Tool (make sure feathering is set to 0)

Make Raster 1 layer active

Click in the center of the right frame only

Selections>Modify>Expand by 5

New Raster Layer

Layers>Arrange>Send to Bottom

Maximize one of the graphics/photos

Copy

Minimize

Paste into Selection

Select None


Step 7

Activate Magic Wand Tool (make sure feathering is set to 0)

Make Raster 1 layer active

Click in the center of the left frame only

Selections>Modify>Expand by 5

New Raster Layer

Layers>Arrange>Send to Bottom

Maximize the other graphic/photo

Copy

Minimize

Paste into Selection

Select None


Step 8

Resize Height to 450 (Width will self-adjust)

Save in PNG format


ASSIGNMENT

1. Send in the frame made with the lesson

2. Create another frame using the steps in the lesson

3. Send in both frames for Credit
