A Little History about the Bees
My name is Krissy, Owner and founder of The New Bee's and the Bee Hive Playground. IM 47 years old and live in Texas along with my Married daughter and her Two beautiful Children. I have Teenage family members that have moved in with us and also call me momma. You will find that I am big into family and spending time together as a family..
Now let me tell you how we got started and what we are built upon.
I was given PSP as a Gift about 8 years ago from a friend. After many attempts I was able to finally get the program installed on my computer. I was so excited to finally have it until I opened it and saw all the tools and
buttons, frightened of what I saw I closed the program and left it untouched for the longest time. The friend that had worked so hard to get the program to me asked me often how I was doing with the program and my answer to her always seemed to be the same.. I've looked at it. I had looked at the Help section for any information I could find to help me get started but nothing seemed to click.. I was directed to some Beginner groups that I quickly joined, But found myself over whelmed with email and more questions. When I wrote in and asked a question it seemed that it always went unanswered or I had more questions with the answer I got.. Most often I was given tutorials to do and things to read.. At the time I had no idea what anything was and the more I read the more confused I became.. I had started collecting anything and everything that came my way and still had no idea what I was doing or if I was doing it right. So no matter what it was I saved it just incase I needed it.
I had come across one article that told me how to install all my fonts into my windows.. Oh was that a big mistake! I nearly crashed my computer with that one **giggles** I didn't even know how to download correctly, I was right clicking and saving the graphic off the emails as JPEG and tossing all the Valuable Tubes away... I had no idea what a Tube was or what you do with them let alone that I needed to save it**giggles** I had no file system going so everything was placed in one folder.. Everything was in a folder called PSP. Oh I asked often what is this or what is that **giggles** I'm sure they had some good laughs on my part.. It was about 6 months later I got an email from PSP Angel asking me if I had ever gotten the answers to my questions.. I wrote her back and told her no.. They had sent me things to read and tutorials to do But explained to her they made no sense to me.. She added me to her Yahoo Messenger and we started talking.. After she found out the mess my computer was in she told me that we would be spending time cleaning up my mess.. She spent two weeks working with me to get my computer put back in order and to teach me a file system to use.. We created a system and moved things into their proper folders.. We were then ready to start creating.. She wrote some lesson's for me easy to read and understand along with many pictures of each step we were going to be taking all the while she was on messenger with me talking me through each step. She taught me what a tube was and how to use it finally. We grew so close to each other and I grew to love her.. When I saw her name light up on my messenger I couldn't wait to get a hello from her.. I would show her the work I had done that day.. She always lifted me up and yet gave me idea's of ways to make it better... Then one day her name stopped lighting up.. I sent her Off lines, emails and always the same.. nothing came back.. After 3 months I finally got a very sad email from her daughter.. My friend had been fighting cancer and had lost her battle.. Her daughter told me that her mother made her promise to contact me if anything happen to her and to let me know how much she enjoyed our time together and helping me learn PSP.. She told me she was sorry it took her so long but she just couldn't get herself to sit at her mothers computer and open it up to send me this message. I had no idea that my friend was even sick let alone fighting cancer.. She spent her last days here on earth teaching me the thing she loved best, PSP. One of the things that I use to say to My PSP Angel was I don't know how I'M ever going to be able to pay you back for all this.. She use to tell me help others like I'm helping you, That's payment enough..
After I had gotten better at my PSP I tried to help others that came along to learn PSP.. I had a small group that I had been teaching and thought maybe if I make a group and bring them all together I can teach them all at one time.. So I Set my mind to create a group.. Now the question was what kind of group and what do I want to name it.. I once again went back to my Friend PSP Angel.. She use to call all new PSPers Newbies.. That's how we became The New-Bee's. In Dotties honor I wanted it to be a place for all to come get answers and get the help they so desperately needed to get started. . It has sense grown into what we have today but the New Bee's started out in her honor and still remains in her honor..
We have this past year added a new Angel to our fold.. Nathan, a young man that came to us trapped in a wheelchair with a great mind and soul.. Though he wasn't able to run, jump or play basket ball.. He was sensitive, gentle, kind and patient.. In his young 19 years he had more wisdom then most people triple his age.. There were many things that Nathan loved, Creating Web pages was one, The New Bee's was another but more then anything People was his most favorite thing.. He loved his friends on the net because as he told me.. Here he was not looked at with sadness in their eyes but he was looked on as an equal.. He was asked for advice and people looked for him to talk with.. He said he felt normal here.. One day while we were talking and he expressed how he had never in his life been able to even color a page in a coloring book yet was now creating beautiful paintings.. He told me that he loved creating them because in his happy world he could be the Eagle flying or the Wolf running.. One of his greatest joys has been the Web Page he created for our Bee's to go and get their lesson's.. It was his way of giving back some of what had been given to him.. In our Lesson's section you will also find his first tutorial he had written for the newest Bee's that come along. He had become our go to person to help the Bee's set up their file System. We are working on a Memorial page for both Nathan and Dottie.. Nathan's page has sense been taken down but his Memory still remains with us and will always be part of the New Bee's
I'm going to share with you the song I think of when I think of my two Friends:
The Chain Of Love By: Clay Walker
He was driving home one evening,
In his beat up Pontiac
When an old Lady flagged him down,
Her Mercedes had a flat
He could see that she was frightened,
Standing out there in the snow
Till he said I'm here to help you Ma'am,
By the way my name is Joe
She said I'm from St. Louis,
And I'm only passing through
I must have seen a Hundred cars go by,
This is awful nice of you
When he changed the tire,
and closed her trunk
and was about to drive away,
she said how much do I owe you
here's what he had to say
You don't owe me a thing, I've been there too
someone once helped me out,
just the way I'm helping you
If you really want to pay me back,
Here's what you do
Don't let the chain of love end with you
Well a few miles down the road,
The lady saw a small cafe
she went in to grab a bite to eat,
and then be on her way
But she couldn't help but notice,
how the waitress smiled so sweet
and how she must've been eight months along,
and dead on her feet
and though she didn't know her story,
and she probably never will
When the waitress went to get her change.
from a hundred dollar bill
The lady slipped right out the door.
and on a napkin left a note
There were tears in the waitress's eyes.
when she read what she wrote
you don't owe me a thing,
I've been there too
someone once helped me out,
just the way I'm helping you
If you really want to pay me back,
Here's what you do
Don't let the chain of love end with you
That night when she got home from work,
The waitress climbed into bed
She was thinking about the money
and what the lady's note had said
As her husband lay there sleeping,
She whispered soft and low
Everything's going to be alright, I love you Joe
I am looking forward to
getting to know each of you
and seeing your awesome work as you grow..
Love and Hugs,
Queen Krissy
